Looking Good!

Today my parents came over for the second day.  They have been putting on some Watco Oil on the kitchen cabinets.  The cabinets were pretty dull, but with the Watco Oil they look really good.

First my dad lightly sanded the kitchen cabinets.

Adding the Watco Oil to the cabinets with a pad. After it sits on the cabinets for about 30 minutes, you wipe it off with a cloth.

We added some new hardware to our kitchen cabinets. The grain of the wood stands out more. I'm so glad we didn't paint these cabinets.

Some of the drawers will pretty well worn. The Watco Oil really covered up the worn spots.

We added our chair rail to the beadboard. It looks pretty good!

Also today I painted most of the insulation holes around the house.  Here’s what I painted:

  • Two bedrooms (4 walls)
  • Living room
  • Bathroom ceiling
  • Kitchen wall
  • Coat closets
  • Stairs hallway
  • basement hallway
  • Started painting third bedroom (half done!)

The smell was not good from the Watco Danish Oil. We have to wash off some of the cabinets with mineral spirits because it had years of grease on them from cooking. Then we had to lightly sand so the
Danish oil would soak in. Then we put on a heavy coat of Danish Oil,
let it sit for 30 minutes and put on another coat for 15 minutes. Finally,
lightly wipe buff with a clean rag. BINGO, NEW CABINETS! We used
Watco Cherry Stain Danish Oil. We loved the finished product!
